2026 Absa Kip Keino Classic

The most important international athletics meet in Kenya keeps growing in significance year after year. This year’s edition, held at Nyayo National Stadium in Nairobi, attracted top athletes from around the world, all putting their best foot forward to the cheers of the world’s best spectators.

Friday April 24th 2026.

On the track

Diana Wanza of Kenya triumphed in the Women’s 5000m race with a time of 15:28.91.
Gabrielle Thomas of USA won the Women’s 200m dash with a time of 21.89.
Emmanuel Wanyonyi led a 1,2,3,4,5,6 and 7 Kenyan sweep of the Men’s 1500m in 3:34.11.
Sinephiso Dambile of South Africa won the Men’s 200m in 19.77.
Gabrielle Thomas of USA won the Women’s 100m in 11.01 outpacing Cambrea Sturgis who got 11.15.
Kelvin Kimtai Loti of Kenya won the Men’s 800m in 1:43.63.
Mercy Okech of Kenya won the Women’s 400m in 50.17
Ferdinand Omanyala of Kenya won the Men’s 100m in 9.96.

Zakithi Nene of South Africa won the Men’s 400m in 44.50.

The spectators

They showed up in their numbers – more than 20,000 of them, and made all the athletes feel they were racing before a home crowd.
