Tembea Kenya Photo Competition Winners

Winners of the inaugural Tembea Kenya Photo Competition were announced at a colourful gala event held at Radisson Blu Hotel in Nairobi on Tuesday 18th February 2025. Run by the Kenya Tourism Board, the competition sought to highlight Kenya’s diverse attractions and reward photographers who highlight this beauty.

The competition had eight categories, each with three winners. The overall winners each took home Kshs150,000/-, first runners up Kshs70,000/- and second runners up Kshs30,000/-

Adventure

Winner – Sundowner at Osieko Beach By Dalton Odemba Osieko Beach, Siaya County.

First Runner Up – Thrill Seeker by Mary Njuguna, Naivasha.

Second Runner Up – Boat anchoring on Lake Victoria by Stephen Okello, Sindo Beach, Suba South.

Culture

Winner – The Wait by Okaka Felix Maikona, Marsabit County.

First Runner Up – Luo Traditional Wrestling by Arnold Otieno, Hippo Point, Kisumu.

Second Runner Up – Elegance in Beads by Maureen Gacheri, Turkana.

Hidden Gems

Winner – Whispers of Muricho by Leah Mureithi, Muricho Village, Rongai, Nakuru County.

First Runner Up – Lone Donkey Mount Ololokwe by Antony Trivet, Isiolo County.

Second Runner Up- Kapsimotwo Gardens by Raymond Kilimo, Kapsimotwo Gardens, Nandi County.

Landscapes

Winner – Flamingo Lake by Geoffrey Bagaka, Central Island National Park, Turkana.

First Runner Up – Wonders of Marafa by Leornard Mambo Joel Marafa Hell’s Kitchen, Kilifi County.

Second Runner Up – Sunrise on Diani Beach by Tahani Butt, Diani Beach, Kwale County.

People

Winner – The Brotherhood Stance by Samuel Kisamwa at A.B.C. Starehe in Nairobi.

First Runner Up – Forest Bathing by Gloria Mong’are KEFRI, Muguga, Kiambu County.

Second Runner Up – Loved and Cherished by Stephen Njuguna, Lake Turkana.

Sustainable Travel

Winner – Waste to Wonder by Carol Kuyo, Nyali, Mombasa County.

First Runner Up – The Blue Flying Turtle by Briton Mwanzangu, Malindi Marine Park, Kilifi County.

Second Runner Up – He who plants a tree plants hope by Zahra Jalalkhan, Nairobi County.

Urban Vibes

Winner – Upper Hill Landmarks by Mutahi Chiira, Nairobi.

First Runner Up – Shukisha AGIP by Thomas Mwikya, Haile Selassie Avenue, Nairobi.

Second Runner Up – Nairobi’s Sky-High Love Letter by Isaac Lokiriman, Nairobi.

Wildlife

Winner – Leaf Hoppers by Solomon Mwangi Ngari, Karura Forest, Nairobi County.

First Runner Up – Say Cheese and Smile at the Camera by Lucas Marang’a, Masai Mara.

Second Runner Up – Affection in the Wild by Shalet Mkamzungu, Ol Pejeta Conservancy.
