Many girls in Muhuru Bay in Migori County do not go past Primary School. In this fishing community on the shores of Lake Victoria in Kenya, preference is given to boys’ education because educating a girl who will most likely get married and leave the family is considered a waste of money. Wiser Girls’ School is working to change this narrative.

I worked with them to tell the story of Mercy Stevens Adhiambo, a Wiser Girls School alumna who by providing for her own family and financially supporting her parents and siblings is proving that when you educate a girl, you educate two homes.
