This was much better than eating exhaust fumes and cursing at overlappers in Nairobi’s morning traffic.
A couple of Fridays ago, colleagues from ARK and I decided to avoid Nairobi’s stress-inducing traffic and venture into Nairobi’s wild side. In just four hours, we’d spotted 10 lions and lots of other wild life.
Nairobi National Park started showing off it’s beauty a few minutes into our game drive.
Starting with this tree and impala silhouette.
Zebra patterns are just amazing!
This impala really wanted us to see his good side. Thanks pal!
About 30 minutes in, we saw an eland and her young running for dear life, away from the lioness in the photo above. It was a lucky day for the eland, which meant a pride of 6 lions went without breakfast.
On the tail end of our game drive, we saw just how far the construction of the elevated SGR track has gone.
Crossing Nairobi will never be the same again.
With NNP being on the JKIA flight path, I was happy to get two birds in one shot.
Someone on Instagram said the ostriches have flight envy. I laughed.
Entry to the Nairobi National Park is just Kshs430/- and Kshs215/- for Kenyan adults and children. Residents pay Kshs1,030/- and Kshs515/-, and non-residents $43 and $22. The best time to do a game drive is early morning from 6am before the sun gets hot and animals go into hibernation mode. Vehicles with less than 6 seats pay Kshs300/- and up to 12-seaters Kshs1,030/-. Payment is strictly by Mpesa, credit or debit card.
