I’ve always wanted to attend a national celebration. There must be a very good reason why more than 20,000 Kenyans flock Nyayo Stadium apart from listening to their President.

As a photographer, there’s the opportunity to take shots that give a different perspective on the day. Well, not for me today.

I never had the necessary accreditation so I had to slip into the press area and keep my head low lest the security spot me.

The ceremony was entertaining and well choreographed.
