There’s be ongoing construction at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for a couple of years now. To cope with increased traffic into Nairobi and it’s growth in importance as a regional and international hub, a new terminal at JKIA is now open for service. A couple of weeks ago, I got together with other photographers from Onetouch in a privileged tour of the terminal. It was going to be an evening tour with our cameras in tow, under the guidance of KAA’s Elijah Miano.
The front face of the terminal is impressive with huge windows allowing in maximum light, reducing the need for expensive lighting.
When we toured, KQ was the only airline operating from the terminal. I guess they got first dibs since Nairobi is their home.
We had great access to the apron and with caution being a priority, were able to shoot from angles we didn’t dream possible.
I lifted the camera from tripod before it was done with a long exposure and this was the result.
The apron side of the terminal has translucent imagery of some of Kenya’s attractions – a very nice touch.
Check-in counters awaiting passengers.
