I’ve been looking forward to posting this for a while.
Before we get to the photos, a little background on these two lovely friends. I met Emmy in 2005 during a Crocodile Racers Easter camping trip to Samburu National Park. Rickie and I had our paths cross shortly after that while I was working at Kiss 100 as a copywriter. Yeah, I have a past too!
Fast forward to start 2013 when Gina my wife and I enrolled for Ndoa, a 10-week marriage myth-breaking, reality-filling experience held at Mavuno Church. I immediately remembered Emmy, while Gina immediately remembered Rickie from Pambazuka days! Over the 10 weeks, we bonded on a deeper level as the truths about marriage were made real by married couples taking us through Ndoa.
Midway through Ndoa, Rickie and Emmy asked me to be their wedding photographer and I immediately accepted. After saying yes, the #OnetouchLive photographic road trip plans were made and departure date was set on Rickie and Emmy’s wedding day. I was split between shooting their wedding and missing the trip. Well, as God were to have it, the departure date for #OnetouchLive was pushed forward allowing me to attend Rickie and Emmy’s wedding and this is how it went down.
I was shooting with Wamuyu Kiragu as my second shooter.
We got to where Emmy was preparing by 6am and started shooting what she’d been wearing.

Rickie and Emmy decided to do things different and have their photo session before the women came to sing for Emmy. It was a suggestion I’d made because they had chosen Windsor Golf and Country Club as their photo session venue. It is a very beautiful location but gets untidily busy over the 12 to 3pm hours because it is a choice for many couples and to get the best shots, we needed minimum interruption.
Many aren’t allowed to shoot at this section of Windsor. But because we were there quite early, the management allowed us to. Thanks guys!

While I went back to Emmy’s, Wamuyu was with Rickie and the groomsmen for breakfast.

After Rickie and Emmy kissed, the Pastor invited those married to do the same – with differing results.
Since we had already done the photo session pictures, we walked to another section of the wedding venue and took extra shots.

I usually don’t shoot evening parties but for Rickie and Emmy, I had to. The mdundiko was serious!
