Patrick and Teresa’s Military Wedding

There’s a lot to be thankful to God for this season. Lots of favour, love, friendship, business, joy… At the top of the list is being blessed to cover my first ever military wedding. I attended an uncle’s military wedding when I was a katoi and all I can recall is guys were in red. The rest is a blur. Patrick and Teresa’s was lots of fun to attend and capture memorable moments.

I met Teresa about a month to her wedding and it was clear to me she had made up her mind what she wanted captured at their wedding. She had a Pinterest board which was very helpful in communicating their vision for their wedding.

I woke up on the morning of the wedding with a very high fever. Gina my wife packed me as many fruits as she could, we prayed for healing and I left home in time to be at Teresa’s parent’s place at 6.30am. I was shooting with Wamuyu Kiragu (check out her blog here) and shooting video was Faimus Productions whom I was delighted to meet and work with for the first time. Check out their brilliance here.

Teresa was relaxed and joyful as she prepared in the morning. Her maids and family were great in keeping the atmosphere full of joy and excitement. There was lots of laughter going round, as well as singing and dancing.

As women from his family were singing for Teresa’s family so that they could be handed the bride, Patrick’s colleagues arrived chanting celebratory tunes. We were all smiles, rubbing shoulders with these mighty men as they came in through the gate and danced with some of Patrick’s relatives. When they got to the main door of Teresa’s parents’ house, things became militant as they stormed into the house, rushed upstairs to where Teresa was already dressed up and ready to leave, and ‘snatched’ her into the waiting car. This is a ndramatic findeotic military tradition happened so fast that it caught many off guard.

I love how Teresa matched the maids outfits with the Air Force uniform colours.

Despite having to shoot the entire wedding with a fever that wasn’t made bearable by the freezing weather, I thoroughly enjoyed being there for Patrick and Teresa. It was a fun day I won’t easily forget.

God’s favour and blessings upon you Patrick and Teresa. Thanks for giving me the pleasure of capturing the cherished moments at your wedding.

Awesome, awesome, Awesome! This is a great job right there….I love the marching soldiers shot at the beginning. The grey skies gives it a sense of men in combat. GREAT!
