African Screens 14 – Diani Sunrise
Capturing the sunrise isn’t a simple matter of setting out with your camera at dawn and clicking away. There’s several variables to be considered.
Weather is top on the list. You can leave bed early, hurry to your vantage point only to find the clouds have formed a formidable blanket that the sun can’t peek through. This is common especially along the Kenyan coast. In my many attempts to capture the sunrise, I was met with cloud cover that blocked the sun until it was way above the horizon.
I got my blessed break on 1st January 2013 when camped at Diani with Onetouch.
This is the first and only golden sunrise I’ve managed to capture over the Indian Ocean.
