nairobi by night

September 2007 was the first time I took photos of Nairobi by night.

I hooked up with Fadzter, Makumi, Francuso and Ken, got a 2-day shooting permit for Kshs10,000/- from DFS, informed the cops at Central Police and over a Friday and Saturday night, walked around Nairobi CBD taking photos. We had so much fun and agreed to repeat the excitement but wapi

Three years later, inspired by the works of trigger-happy oneTOUCHers, I went to the KICC helipad today to take more shots of this beautiful city.

My GHC teacher was right – it gets cooler the higher you go. The wind was human-bending strong and since I hadn’t carried a jacket, I kept jumping on the spot in-between exposures to keep warm.

My Commerce teacher was right too – the view is better from the top.

Great pics… but why do you need a license to take pics in Nbi, is that required by law enforcement?

Yes, you need a permit to take photos of Nairobi. You get it from City Council’s Urban Planning Dept at City Hall Annexe. It’s Kshs2,600/- for a day.

    Incredible photos, Mwarv.

Just a question, if I was to use them, do you have them under Creative Commons or can I show link love back to your blog if used? Thanks.
